Couplers
SteelAsia has introduced its own brand of mechanical couplers called CONNECT. The couplers together with SteelAsia’s rebar threading services, ensure the safety of the material and provide time savings, as well as simplify the management of rebar fixing and installation.
In this mechanical splicing system, the coupled joints are stronger than the rebar, thus, achieving bar-break performance. SteelAsia uses a Type 2 coupler that is suitable for seismic areas.
Overall, the process results in lower costs with zero waste and faster, and more efficient, rebar operations. This also makes construction sites safer workplaces. The mechanical couplers and threaded rebar are delivered to the project site together—ready for splicing.
