SteelAsia among BOC’s top 10 importers for 2016 In Northern Mindanao

SteelAsia Manufacturing Corporation’s rebar manufacturing facility in Misamis Oriental, Villanueva Works, was named as the 8th top importer for 2016 by the Bureau of Customs in Northern Mindanao (Collection District X).
BOC held its Award ng Parangal at Pasasalamat 2017 for the top 10 importers during the fiscal year of 2016 at the Bureau of Customs Grounds in Macabalan, Cagayan de Oro on 06 November 2017.
Villanueva Works imported more than 150,000 metric tons of billets in 2016, which translates to final duties and taxes paid of over P300 million to the Port of CDO.
The Port of CDO also recognized Villanueva Works the Top Taxpayer in 2015.
SteelAsia imports steel billets (the semi-finished steel products that is the input material for rebar).
Among the top 10 importers for 2016 are (in no particular order): Nestle Philippines Inc.; Jetti Petroleum Inc.; Minergy Coal Corp.; Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp.; Phoenix Petroleum Phils Inc.; Cagayan Corn Products Corp.; Seaoil Philippines Inc.; FDC Misamis Power Corp.; and Steag State Power Inc.
The BOC-10 also recognized the top 10 exporters last year, namely (in no particular order): Pilipinas Kao Inc.; Del Monte Philippines Inc.; Axelum Resources Corp.; Newtech Pulp Inc.; Phil. Sinter Corp.; Granexport Manufacturing Corp.; Wilmar Edible Oils Philippines Inc.; Jacobi Carbons Philippines Inc.; Cargill Oil Mills Philippines, Inc.; and Donau Carbon Philippines Corp.
The Philippine News Agency reported the BOC-10 is inching closer to hitting its P13 billion collection target for 2017 after total collections reached over P10 billion in the January to October period of this year.
